Shakespeare’s core values are Faith, Family and Fiduciary. Community service and giving back to our communities is one of the main ways we demonstrate each of these core values. It’s part of Shakespeare’s DNA and not surprisingly, it’s also part of yours. In that regard, three years ago we created the Shakespeare Service Award to recognize clients that go above and beyond the call of duty in giving back to our communities.

Our previous winners were Ray and Donna, and Jim and Jan. To learn more about their passion for service, we’ll direct you to our website to read previous blogs.

This year, we are pleased to announce that our very deserving service award winners are Debby and John. They each tackled many projects and positions in the community throughout the year, and in reality, over several decades.

Debby is very involved in three schools, St. Jude, Marquette High School and Divine Savior High School. She serves on (and chairs and presides over as president) committees and is the Treasurer of both the Marquette’s Mother’s Guild AND Women of St. Jude; she works on classroom projects, festivals, decorating and fundraising. Debby revamped a Kindergarten High Interest Day Program and established and implemented a decorating process for the Gala at St. Jude. She has been Marquette’s Auction Co-Chair, Auction Decorations Committee Co-Chair and volunteers for the Holly Fest. She also works on the Holiday Fantasy World and Light the Children’s Hospital Christmas Tree. She has worked on the Children’s Hospital Telethon Commissary for 3 years running. One of her biggest projects for the past 5 years has been setting up a Santa Shop at St. Anthony’s in Milwaukee. It is truly something to see! (Debby, if you’d like to share photos of your Santa Shop on our “Shakespeare Community” page on Facebook, I’m sure we would all love to see them!) The community page is for our clients to share their great vacations, volunteer experiences and their lives, because we think you have great things to offer each other).

John has held almost every position at St. Jude! He has been the Treasurer of Home & School for 6 years, the President of Home & School for 1 year, the Treasurer of the Athletic Association for 10 years, Treasurer of the St. Jude Golf Outing (and Founders Committee), the Co-Chair of the Scoring Committee for their soccer tournament for 10 years, Chair of the Finance Committee for 7 years, the Volunteer Controller. Marquette High School has benefited from his good heart as well. There is John is the Treasurer of the Father’s Club, the Auction Co-Chair and on the Technology Advisory Committee. At Divine Savior High School he has been the Treasurer of the Golf Outing Committee for 4 years.

John has been a Board Member Sales & Marketing Executive for 4 years, Board Member of the Independent Business Association of Wisconsin for 12 years, Board Member and Treasurer of Independence First for 4 years, and CFO of the Year Award Judge from 2008-2017. He’s on the Steering Committee of MMAC CEOs of Growing Business for 4 years.

Thank you, Debby and John, for being a light in this world!

It probably would have been easier to tell you what these two DON’T do. Regardless, we can’t help but feel proud and thankful that our clients are the type of folks who make a difference.
