Times like these make us feel very lucky to be part of the Pewaukee community. We have two amazing stories this week, of two different organizations, that are working to take care of our friends in Houston. We are humbled by both.
First up is an animal rescue in Houston, run by a Pewaukee High School graduate, Tammy Buth. Tammy shared updates online as Quantum Fields Animal Rescue went under water, and now as it is recovering itself, while reaching out to help other victims of Hurricane Harvey. The rescue is dedicated to providing a safe spot for animals in need. Check out their website to meet Moolie and this sweetheart!
The other little charity is one you may have heard of. The JJ Watt Foundation set out with a fundraising goal of $200,000 to help with hurricane relief efforts. Apparently, when JJ asks, people answer. And answer they did. As of early this morning, his Houston Flood Relief Fund has raised $14 MILLION 608,789. And that, my friends, is incredible. In addition, Pewaukee High School opened up it's doors for donations of food and supplies requested by the foundation. Again, with small goals in mind there are now more than 9 semi-trucks headed to Houston packed with food, water and disaster relief packages.
Join Ellen DeGeneres, the Green Bay Packers, Drake, and MANY Pewaukeeans in being a part of this enormous relief effort. And send up prayers of thanks to JJ for being one of the downright nicest guys on the planet.
