This week’s Fun Friday was chosen by one of our Facebook followers, Steve. Steve’s nephew is a children’s cancer survivor. His niece and nephew donate their time and continued support at the KiDS NEED MoRE camp during the Summer and on their off time. Here’s a little bit more about KiDS NEED MoRE.
KiDS NEED MoRE is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children, families, and young adults coping with cancer and life-threatening illnesses.
In 1990, a few parents created a camping experience for their children diagnosed with cancer and their siblings. Camp Adventure now serves the east coast and tri-state area and remains one of the only camps of its kind to serve both child cancer patients and their siblings. In 2013, a group of Camp Adventure volunteers began KiDS NEED MoRE to be a parent company of the camp in order to ensure its longevity. Camp Adventure was only the beginning and now provides many other programs and services for kids and their families.
KiDS NEED MoRE believes that fun heals. Camp Adventure provides fun activities that foster peer relationships, independence and respite. In turn, this creates networks with other families that are facing similar experiences.
With the help of wonderful people, like you, they are able to provide programs where children, families, and young adults coping with cancer and life-threatening illness can celebrate life in a safe and positive environment.
The Kaplan Family of CHASELLA will be matching donations through the end of 2017. DOUBLE your donation to wrap up a great year up until December 31st. All donations will be used to make MoRE SPECiAL EVENTS happen for local children coping with life threatening illness.
