Right up the road from our office is the brand new St. Anthony on the Lake Community Garden.
The garden will help provide fresh produce for the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary and Pewaukee Food Pantry this summer. We offered to help maintain the garden for four weeks during this growing season, where we will be weeding, watering and harvesting produce. We are looking forward to getting our hands dirty for such a great cause; and will be bringing you pictures (of our dirty hands) as soon as we can! In fact, here are some to get you started:
We enjoyed this service opportunity so much last year, that we are taking it on again. This year, we’ve added even more weeks of caretaking to our schedules. We’ve been to “our” garden a few times already this summer. Last week was our first harvest opportunity. Not sure about Mary, Mary (Quite Contrary); but just LOOK at how our garden grows!
