Since Trudie Hughes sold her business and “retired,” she now makes 25 crib quilts each month for La Causa Crisis Nursery – a short term children’s shelter in Milwaukee. She’s been doing this for 10 years now, so that is a TON of quilts! In addition to the quilts she makes for the babies who stay at the crisis nursery, she sells even more quilts every month for money to donate to La Causa Crisis Nursery & Respite Center. You can learn more about the amazing Trudie at www.trudiehughes.com.
If our last few FUN Friday causes have taught us nothing else, it is that ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Do not be afraid to find your own cause and make a difference.
The Crisis Nursery and Respite Center is the only state licensed center of its kind in southeast Wisconsin. They care for up to 12 children each night. Children can stay for up to 72 hours at no cost to the family. They help families avoid exposure to traumatic crisis situations that could leave long-lasting, detrimental effects on a child’s emotional, mental and physical well-being.
They are open 24 hours a day/365 days a year to provide support to children from birth to 12 years old when family emergencies arise, such as homelessness, domestic violence, medical needs, etc. When a mom has post pregnancy complications and needs to go back into the hospital – her newborn is safe and sound at La Causa Crisis Nursery and Respite Center.
For over 25 years, they have provided the most basis needs – clothing, food and shelter to the youngest and most vulnerable members of society – our children.
This week, because we are not expert quilt makers like Trudie, we are giving $100 to La Causa Crisis Nursery and Respite Center. We hope you will consider helping this fine organization, as well.
