Gather Tax Documents
Written By: Nick Ziarek, CFP®, CFA
It’s tax season! Keep an eye out for these forms when preparing:
1099-R: If you took an IRA or 401k distribution, watch for a form from the account custodian. Be sure to note any Qualified Charitable Distributions made directly from your IRA.
1099 Composite: Reports interest (1099-INT), dividends (1099-DIV), and capital gains (1099-B) from regular taxable brokerage accounts.
1099-SA: Used to report distributions from a Health Savings Account
If you transferred any accounts from another custodian this year, remember to gather documents from them in addition to Charles Schwab.
