How to live a fulfilled life in retirement.

As financial planners, we have the great privilege of guiding people into and through retirement.  It is a time of great excitement, where your time is finally your own.  You can pursue the dreams and passions you did not have the time or, perhaps, the money to pursue while you were raising a family and building a career.

For as much as people look forward to this period in their life, there is a risk to retirement that frequently goes unnoticed. Imagine getting to retirement and not launching headfirst into all the things you have dreamed about.  Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and months turn into years and before you know it you have not pursued your dreams.

So what does a thriving retirement look like?

At Shakespeare, we are continuously inspired by you, our clients, on how to live a fulfilled life.

As a case in point, we would like to introduce you to our client Dick, who is following his retirement roadmap, one mile at a time.  Literally following his roadmap, Dick has ridden his bicycle over 14,000 miles across the country in the last eight years. To document his adventures, Dick creates a blog for each, and includes a few pictures and a short description of each leg of his trip.  He posts this to his blog, where family and friends can follow along.

We have had the great privilege of following Dick on several of his adventures.  His most recent, titled ‘Cactus to Conifers’ is a trip that will take Dick and two friends from Flagstaff Arizona to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The group departed from Flagstaff on May 3rd and, depending on when you read this and how the group does, they should be finishing the trip shortly.  Dick has been gracious enough to let us share his most recent adventure with you. Check it out and remember to dream big, then get out there and live those dreams!

We would love to hear how you are following your retirement dreams.
